The video essay is narrated through a travelogue which is happening on a bus ride between two cities in Bosnia, some 10 years ago. A subjective meditation set in spatial movement. The work is part of a project entitled “Critical Intimism”, which experiments on relation of inner and outer worlds by confronting contemplation (monologue) to specified living circumstances caught by video or photography.

The work you are looking at is an editing of the super 8 film found on the Jeu de Balle during the days you could wander among abandoned objects. It is about, through the editing work, revealing the true story of the moment, the unconscious of the filmmaker.
Trained in 1998 at La Fabrique by Sabine Jauffret in Valence d'Albigeois, Aurélia Pfend began to tell stories and put them into images. It must be said that the environment was favorable: the countryside of the Tarn offers as main leisure activities, the forest to be afraid of, or the tender grass of the meadows to star in the clouds. There were no other outcomes but to keep telling the stories. Despite time, travel and the chaos of life, her work persists in translating the singular of the real into the sensitive.

Harry Chapman

This video, made in the former club, establishes a relation between two independent and unauthored processes – the physical movement of an axle and the duration established by a video camera. Just as in Robert Breer and Pontus Hultén's film of kinetic sculpture at the Galerie Denise René in Paris in 1955, it is the record of a relation without any final form.
Harry Chapman (b.1988, London, UK), works in sculpture and video. He studied at Central Saint Martin's, London (2008–12) and at the Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main (2017–19). He was resident in the atelier partagé, Hectolitre, in 2019/20. He currently lives and works in Brussels.
